15th DACH Permafrost Conference in Davos, Switzerland

The 15th DACH Permafrost Conference took place in Davos from 8 to 10 January 2025, hosted by the Permafrost Research Group at the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF. The event brought together 91 participants from 10 countries, including 33 young scientists, to discuss recent advances and challenges in permafrost research.
The conference began with two engaging workshops: one on research data management for PYRN members and another on the upcoming GTN-P database release. A highlight of the first evening was a scenic trip to the Strelaalp for a traditional cheese fondue, followed by an exhilarating sled ride back to Davos. Over the next two days, 76 contributions on mountain and polar permafrost were presented across six oral and one poster session. Informal discussions flourished during breaks, a joint dinner, and a guided tour showcasing SLF’s research activities.
We extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their valuable contributions and to our sponsors – SLF Davos, DGP, SEP (SCNAT), and “Bilden und Forschen. Graubünden” – for making this event possible. We now look forward to the  16th DACH Permafrost Conference in Brandenburg in January 2026! Stay informed on our website and via our mailing list (link) .
