The Glossary of Permafrost and Related Ground-Ice Terms was published in 1988 as a list of definitions relating to permafrost science and permafrost engineering. Its primary objective was to present terms that enjoyed common usage in the literature, with special reference to Canada and Canadian conditions. The Glossary was based upon Permafrost Terminology, a booklet published in December 1974 by the late R.J.E. Brown and W.O. Kupsch.
The IPA is planning to publish an update of the Glossary in the near future.
