As the active layer cools in the northern hemisphere, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) organizes the Discipline of the Month: Permafrost
If you understood the first sentence, or especially if you didn’t, this is the month for you. Check out and contribute to the Permafrost Page (http://apecs.is/research-fields/cryosphere/permafrost), and regularly visit again for updates.
In the second half of the month, present at or attend a Permafrost Virtual Poster Session. Please load your poster online (http://apecs.is/virtual-poster-session) and let us know you are interested by October 10 at the latest.
APECS also set up a video channel on vimeo (http://vimeo.com/channels/permafrost) with plenty of resources, presentations and tutorials on permafrost
Also coming up, a webinar presented by Dr. Goncalo Vieira, who is the Portuguese representative on the International Permafrost Association. He is a professor at the Institute for Geography and Spatial Planning the, University of Lisbon.
We’re looking forward to a great month of frozen ground!
The Discipline of the Month is a feature of APECS, organized by early career scientists from around the globe. The Permafrost Month is brought to you by Inga May (i.may@iggf.geo.uni-muenchen.de) and Cordula Teschner (cordula.teschner@uni-bonn.de).
