The Global Terrestrial Network for Permafrost (GTN-P) held its Second GTN-P National Correspondents Workshop in Quebec, Canada, September 19-20. Dmitry Streletsky (George Washington University, Washington DC, USA) was elected as the new Chair of the Steering Committee for the coming four years. A new study by Overduin et al. (IPA Action Group chair "Subsea Permafrost Mapping Data Initiative (2012-2014)") shows that methane concentrations in submarine permafrost cored in the central Laptev Sea shelf are low.
